On Special DTP Needs
A new client called us years ago with, what
appeared to be, a straightforward request; the translation of
a manual, set up as a dtp job complete with illustrations etc.
Only one catch; he needed to find an economical way of having
the job done over and over again with only
small differences!
The jobs were all different, but based on a
selection af basic machinery, and we found
a
solution, producing each manual on the basis of former
versions and securing consistency as well as reducing the
price.
After many years of doing a few of these per
month, we probably know the machinery better than the engineer
who designs it. The client gets his translations at a price
per word not worth mentioning, but thanks to our dtp
facilities, we are doing alright on these jobs, as our
workload is reduced by using a large
percentage of previously translated text.
