Medical translation and medical knowledge!

Like all specialist translations, the medical jobs could cause severe damage if performed incorrectly. Obviously, a medical translation must be made by a translator with a medical knowledge way above the average, and preferably with a medical education.

Most clients know the feeling: The translated documentation is returned from the translator, but the client has no knowledge of the target language and no way of knowing if the job is done correctly. The documentation is delivered to the end-user, and the client is holding his/her breath, hoping not to receive any phonecalls from laughing or angry end-users.

The background is simple; medical translations are not the most sought after jobs for most translators, and the majority of jobs are handled by people who would definately prefer jobs from another of the specialist fields.
In our pool of translators we have people doing nothing but medical translations, sometimes even backed by a medical education!

As we are highly focused on the specialist areas, technical, medical and legal translations, we are also evaluating and hiring translators based on their knowledge outside the actual language-combinations. Checking their talents in languages is easy enough; checking their medical level is a lot harder - but we insist on doing it, as our business is based on just that!
